My name is Alexis. I am a skateboarder and woodworker. Born and raised in Queens, New York, I built skate boxes and ramps as a teenager. I started making furniture for myself in my 20s. In 2020, I started making things out of skateboards!
As wood prices rose during the pandemic, I started using skateboards as a building material. I work with local skaters and skate shops to collect their broken and discarded skateboards so I can repurpose them and give them a second life outside the skate parks.
Skateboards as they are made from quality maple hardwood. They are also nonrecyclable due to their various materials (griptape, glue, dyes, paint) So rather than letting them end up in the trash, I decided to collect them and show the world how beautiful skateboards are and what they can become.
